Last year in the presentation of a singular convertible by Acer: the Switch Alpha 12 highlighted by a unique design support, but above all by a liquid cooling system called LiquidLoop that allowed integrating powerful processors without the need to use traditional fans.
That success is repeated in the Acer Switch 5, which now come with new Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 seventh generation (Kaby Lake) that bring more efficiency and power to these flashy 2 in 1.
Acer Switch 5: More power without too many compromises
The inclusion of these new processors from Intel is the great novelty of teams that we say integrate the LiquidLoop system to cool these seventh generation processors that also offer improvements in graphics power thanks to its integrated GPUs Intel HD Graphics 620.
The design of this Acer Switch 5 maintains the patented holder by Acer with automatic retraction that allows to adjust the angle of vision with one hand, and in this model we also have a fingerprint reader compatible with Windows Hello.
Among its specifications is its 12.2-inch display with 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution, up to 512GB SSD (expandable via MicroSD), and LPDDR4 RAM up to 8GB. It has two USB-C ports (USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface), plus three USB 3.1 ports with traditional USB-A connector.
The Acer Switch 5 also has interesting dimensions and weight: 292 x 201 mm, 8 x 12 mm and 1.27 kg in weight, which include a detachable keyboard. These keyboards with integrated trackpad fit through a system of magnets on the computer screen.
In the case of Switch 5, the keyboard is also backlit and the keys have a path of 1.4 mm. The optional accessory to the keyboard is the Active Pen stylus, with 1024 levels of pressure.
Acer Switch 3, the (somewhat more) economic version
The smaller brothers of the Switch 5 are the Acer Switch 3, computers that retain the diagonal of 12.2 inches on the screen but do so with a resolution somewhat lower than 1920 x 1200 pixels.
As in the case of the previous model, this convertible comes with a detachable but not backlit keyboard, and as in the previous case, it is possible to take advantage of its touch screen to take notes or draw with the Acer Active Pen.

This model includes up to 128 GB of eMMC memory (no SSD, care) expandable via Micro SD and up to 4 GB of RAM LPDDR3. We will also have a USB-C port (USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface) and a traditional USB-A port (USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface). The Acer Switch 3 measures 295 x 201 x 16.3 mm and is therefore a significantly thicker model, although the difference in tablet mode is hardly noticeable (9.6 mm of Switch 5 by 9.95 mm of Switch 3).
Liquid cooling and Optane! Also reach the All-In-One
That refrigeration proposal that already is protagonist in those convertibles has also arrived at the computers of desktop in format All-in-one of Acer. This is demonstrated by the Acer Aspire U27, a new team that also stands out for its thinness.
Acer’s managers boast a 12mm thick chassis with a metal base with a curious V-shape and also stands out for that 27-inch screen with 1080p resolution in which we find an integrated sub-woofer to provide guarantees in The enjoyment of audio.
The specifications include the seventh-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, as well as configurations with up to 32 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz. In this equipment, it is even possible to have a recently presented item: Intel Optane memories to accelerate access to Storage system.
Price and availability of Acer Switch 5, Acer Switch 3 and Acer Aspire U27
These attractive proposals will not be cheap, however: Acer Switch 5 with Intel Core i7 processor will be available next month in Spain with a price starting at 1399 dollars.
For its part, the Acer Switch 3 will be available in Spain from the month of August with a price starting at 549 dollars.
The Acer Aspire U27 recently won the iF Design Award, and will be available in August in Spain with a price starting at 1499 dollars.
